Monthly Art Mailing Ring

All right, so you are interested in the art ring?  There are a few things you should know to get started.

1.  You must be willing to share your address with other artists.

2.  Those artists will be mailing you art

3.  You will be mailing other artists YOUR art.

Purpose:

The purpose of the art ring is to get your art out into the world.  It is meant to be a motivator for most of us and a neat way to collect the art of others.  It is also meant to inspire us.  It really isn't advertising, but If you mail your art in an envelope, a business card wouldn't hurt anything.

What to mail:

One 2.5" x  3.5" piece of your own original art.   This is the standard size for ACEO's. If you don't know...Google it!

On the back you must have the following:

Your name, address, the date mailed and anything else you might feel like putting there.

When to mail it:

On the 6th of each month.  Why the 6th?  It's after payday and also my favorite number.

How it works:

You send me

1.  An e-mail address you check frequently

2. Your mailing address (PO Boxes are OK)

Then you wait.  We will begin the first mailing after we have a sufficient number of interested people.

You will be contacted with the address of the person you will be mailing to.

The mailings will be shuffled every month.  You will not recieve more than one piece of art from any one artist.  And you should never be mailing to the same address more than once.

After you get the address you are mailing to you will be responsible for mailing your art in a timely manner

FAQ

Q: What mediums will be accepted?

A: Any as long as it can be mailed in an envelope (it should be flat).  The demensiond MUST be 2.5" X 3.5".

Q: Why are you doing this?

A: There are several reasons.

1.  Some of us that have 9-5 jobs need a shove and a reason to do art.

2.  It is inspiring.

3.  Who doesn't like getting things in the mail....

This is only a few reasons.  there are many more!

Q: What if I didn't get to join in the beginning, can I still get in on it?

A: Yes.

Q: Can I change what medium I use?

A: Absolutly, mix it up!  send out things that represent you in whatever medium you feel like at the time!

Q: I got a piece that I really want to share, what is the best way?

A: I will set up a flickr account for us to post to.  The link will be right here once the account is set up.  I encourage you to keep trading private so that we don't piss anyone off! And remember Flickr has a policy against using their site to sell.

IMPORTANT!!!

If you choose to opt out, let me know as soon as possible to make sure that every one is mailing AND recieving!

Any one that fails to send a piece more than 2 times will be excluded from any further activity with this group.

Disclaimer:

I am not going to make any stipulations about the content of the art other than the demensions 2.5" x 3.5" and that it be flat.  I believe that an artist should be able to express themselves any way they want and not be limited by another persons convictions or beliefs.  And I am not going to take the time to arrange people by prude/not prude.
